Bulsara, Cyrus

Cyrus Rustom Bulsara

September 25, 1947 - October 29, 2019

Cyrus Bulsara, born September 25, 1947 in Bombay, India to Rustom and Korshed Bulsara, passed away surrounded by the love of his family in Plano, Texas on October 29, 2019 following a heart attack. Cyrus built a career as an executive at a variety of consumer product, haircare and beauty companies including Colgate-Palmolive, Redken, Clairol, Wella and Mary Kay. In 1996, he founded his own consulting firm, Professional Consultants & Resources, specializing in the beauty, salon, spa and cosmetics industries. Cyrus was well recognized as an expert in the industry and often spoke at conferences, served as an expert witness in litigation and provided consulting services to financial groups investing in the global beauty and salon industry.

Cyrus enjoyed good food and music; he attended concerts of all types but especially loved jazz concerts. He cheered for his favorite soccer team, Manchester United and the Dallas Cowboys, planning his weekends around games. His technology skills and social media savviness were unrivaled, and he loved connecting and reminiscing with old friends and colleagues. Later in life he enjoyed cooking and began to reproduce many complex Indian recipes.

Cyrus was a devoted husband to Rashnè who predeceased him six years ago. They spent a wonderful 42 years together and lived together in Bandra, India; Ndola, Zambia; Newberry Park, California; Fairfield, Connecticut and Plano, Texas. They were always happy to spend time with their daughters and their four grandchildren.

Cyrus is survived by his daughters, Farah Bulsara Speer and her husband, Matthew and Avaan Lieberman and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Zarina, Mitchell, Zachary and Ethan.

A Zoroastrian service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North (Ridgeview Exit 38) in Allen, Texas.

Memorial donations may be made in Cyrus Bulsara’s name to the American Heart Association or the Zoroastrian Association of North Texas, both organizations he supported for many years.

My heart goes out to Cy's family on his passing. I knew him from Mary Kay. He was so helpful to me at MK. I worked in R&D and he helped me understand the needs and importance of addressing international product needs. And even after we both left MK, he guided me as I went into consulting. Cy did so much and was well known and respected by all in the cosmetic industry. We had another connection from our Connecticut days. Your family was neighbors in Trumbull, CT with the Fatsi family whom I knew through church. Small world. May you be blessed with memories of all the wonderful times you spent with your Dad. Melanie Smith, January 11, 2020 My condolences to the near and dear ones. Cyrus was my buddy in school - a jolly good guy. May his soul RIP.

“Entre a minha casa e a sua há uma ponte de estrelas, uma ponte de silêncio”. -Mario Quintana Que Deus o tenha! Te amo Cyrus Bulsara Elienai Souza de Andrade , November 11, 2019 To the Bulsara Family, I worked with Cyrus in the late '80's and early 1990's at Clairol. Your father was at times a mentor and very often gave me career advice. I so appreciated him for that and it made a lasting impression on me. I lost touch with him for many years, but when LinkedIn came about I sought out old connections, and I reconnected with him. I can tell you knowing him back when I first met him he was a family man and it was very clear he was devoted to his wife and daughters on top of all the other things he did professionally. My sincere condolences on your family's loss. Brian Walsh, November 9, 2019 To the Bulsara Family, I am so very sad about the passing of my good Friend and Co-Worker at REDKEN, Cyrus. He always had a smile for everyone and certainly was very kind to everyone. If you ever needed something done or help with any project, he was there. I enjoyed conversing with Cyrus on Facebook through the later years as I haven’t seen him for awhile. I loved how he took a picture of his dinner each night and we knew what he cooked and served himself. He loved his Daughters and especially his Grandsons. I always looked forward to seeing what he did with his Grandsons or what play, concert or entertaining thing he had planned for the weekend. My Nickname from Cyrus was “ZIGGY BABY”. We enjoyed each other’s company very much. My Sympathies to His Family and Friends. I certainly lost a wonderful Friend and Mentor. Rest In Peace Dear Cyrus. Love,
Judy Zeigler-Rosser, November 6, 2019 I am very sad that my friend, my confidante and my Facebook jail cell mate has left us. He was a great guy who helped me with advice and suggestions and just good conversation. I know how he missed his wife and that he adored his daughter and his grandchildren. My sincerest condolences to the family. I will miss my chats with Cyrus. RIP friend.
Michael Miller, November 5, 2019 So sorry to hear about your Father. I feel your pain. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family during this difficult time. Sincerely, Erika
Erika Wood, November 5, 2019 I worked with Cyrus at Clairol 30 some years ago. Always interesting and so smart. Sorry for your loss. Rest In Peace Cyrus. Zubaida khan, November 5, 2019 Please accept my sincere condolences. Cyrus was my first boss in the beauty industry. He hired me as his summer intern in 1989. He was always a great supporter of my career, and we were just in touch weeks ago. He was amazingly bright and such a provocative thinker. I'll always be grateful for the interest he took in my development. Sending my prayers to the family. Louise Butler, November 5, 2019 RIP my Redken Buddy. You were alway so kind to me. I’m so sad to hear of this news. Cindy Leach, November 5, 2019 So Sad to hear of the sudden passing of a man with many lessons to learn from and grateful to have had the chance to listen as a young woman beginning her career at Clairol/Bristol-Myers Squibb. Thank you for your kindness and sincere friendship! RIP Cyrus! Joanne Melendez, November 4, 2019 Sorry you are leaving us too early!!! I’ll miss our soccer chit chats. See you again. Safe travels Cyrus.
Ian Murphy, November 4, 2019 I'm just so stunned. Cyrus seemed like the type of person who lives forever. Wise, strong, always in tune with what's happening and sometimes in front of it. I'll always remember getting together for drinks with Cyrus and the other Redken sales and marketing guys at trade shows. I always enjoyed lots of laughs with Cyrus, even if the joke was on me at times. Yes, he could be snarky but it was always just in fun. Working together, Cyrus was always professional to the utmost. A very smart, bright soul. My prayers and condolences go to Cyrus' family now, and may you all be comforted by the high praises of his friends and acquaintances. He does live forever with us. Mary Martin, November 4, 2019 I heard about the passing of Cyrus from a post on FB from the funeral home just yesterday. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I will really miss this guy. I knew Cyrus for decades thru the beauty biz. I'd see him at shows all the time. I am sundries and he was wet goods so we did not do business that way, just sharing observations and opinions about all kinds of stuff. And boy did we have opinions! He was a big jazz lover so he was a big fan of my wife, Rose Bonanza. He would catch her shows thru the years in Vegas during the BBSI. I remember when his wife Rashne' passed a few years ago. He took it hard, we talked a number of times. When Rose passed one year ago this month, he reached out big time. As he travels into the next life, he might get to hear Rose sing again. I hope so! Michael DiMartino, November 4, 2019 Very sad. I have known Cyrus since 1982. We were both strangers to California then and developed a friendship that has lasted until today. Cyrus will be missed. Our condolences to Cyrus' family.
Arnie Kranz, November 4, 2019 Cyrus was a friend at Clairol, a good and honest man. I loved his energy and commitment to life and the industry. He will be missed. Bob bobwalsh512@gmail.com, November 4, 2019 I worked with Cyrus many years ago at Clairol in New York and Connecticut. I loved Cyrus's very direct approach and his passion for the beauty industry. He certainly taught me a lot about the salon category and we had a lot of terrific discussions (and productive arguments!) about business. He was a great guy and friend, who lived for his beloved wife, daughters and grandchildren. I last spoke with Cyrus about five years ago when he lost Rashne. He was heartbroken but knew he had to be strong for his family. The beauty industry is a little more boring, and certainly a little quieter, without our friend Cyrus.
Bob Goehrke, November 4, 2019 I had many wonderful conversations with this wonderful person and it was always a great experience. Cyrus was certainly someone who would always help in any way he could. My deepest condolences to his beautiful family and loved ones.

Gregg McConnell, November 3, 2019 I knew of Cy for less than a year. He didn't know me at all until a couple of months ago. I knew Barb, a friend of his from Arizona and she talked about him all the time. How he was so thoughtful, generous to her and others. He prided himself in making others feel important and went the extra mile sometimes to make things happen. And than I got to meet Cy, he was all that and more. A real genuine human being and I could see why people admired him. The stars wont shine as bright since He is gone. He was such a sparkle in many peoples lives. cooky shively, November 3, 2019 I’ll miss you! You were a wonderful person & we had many banters back & forth on Facebook. Andrew Biazis, November 2, 2019
Cyrus was one of my best friends since 1986 when we met in California and we shared many great conversations, fun meals, house visits and memorable times over the years. I have been very blessed to have had him in my life as he always gave me good counsel and encouragement, as he also did for others. He was a caring and giving man. He will be greatly missed by family and friends as he was a person everyone always looked forward to seeing and talking with, no matter the subject. You could always feel his incredible energy no matter the subject matter and the discussion usually ended with him sounding his unique incredible laugh. I can hear it now..... He worked extremely hard and gave his all in establishing himself as a legendary figure in the professional beauty industry and beyond for his unique style, integrity, vast knowledge, spot-on analysis and through the demonstration of his caring heart for his family and friends. When industry colleagues needed to know something no one else had knowledge of, the answer always was "call Cyrus, he will know". His brilliance always came through in every conversation we had and I am sure others feel the same way. I am extremely thankful that the last subject after business that we spoke about over the phone, just a few weeks ago, was how our remarkable our friendship had evolved over 33 plus years. We always told each other a story as we shared thoughts from our years of friendship that always left us in appreciation of our time together. Most of our discussions ended with "love ya man". We truly meant it and loved each other's friendship, unconditionally. I will miss him more than even he would know and I was fortunate to have told him "love ya man" during that one last conversation. Rest well my friend......it was one magnificent ride through life. God bless. Andrew Biazis, November 2, 2019 Dear Farah, Avaan, Matt, Mike, Zarina, Mitch, Zach, and Ethan: Cyrus will be greatly missed. I have many lovely memories of my time with him which I will cherish. He exceeded his role as a brother-in-law and friend to myself and my late husband, Darius. His sense of humor was unrivaled and he had the most amazing dance moves! Take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with Rashne. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. My Deepest Sympathy, Thritee Thritee Baxter, November 2, 2019 I am very saddened by Cyrus's passing. Cyrus was a wonderful Father and Grandfather. For me, I saw Cyrus as being a VERY PROUD Dad - devoted to Farah and Avaan, and to his four Grandchildren that he loved so much. Cyrus always had a smile - always engaged, to a high level. May Cyrus Rest In Peace and may his Family have comfort and peace with memories that will always prevail. My Deepest Sympathy with Love,
Kay Wright, November 1, 2019
