Mrs. Cynthia Powell Lavender, beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away on July 18, 2008 at her home in Plano, Texas. She was 58 years old. Born in Beaumont, Texas on March 29, 1950, Cynthia was raised in Port Neches, Texas. She married Herbert Bryan Lavender, on August 30, 1969. She earned her bachelor’s degree in French from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1972. They had three children together, raising them primarily in Austin, Texas. Cynthia is survived by her husband, Herbert, of Plano; father, William F. Powell, of Plano; daughters Sarah Jane Lavender and Vanessa Beth Lavender, both of Austin, Texas; son Benjamin James Powell Lavender of San Diego, California; and sister Amanda Lucarini and her husband, Dean, of Astoria, New York. Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother in 1984. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Jan Sullivan officiating.
