Cynthia (Rockwell) Gibbs, a resident of McKinney, Texas, passed away April 7, 2025 at the age of 74. She was born on September 12, 1950, to her loving parents, Richard Kenneth Rockwell and JoAnn (Gower) Rockwell in Moline, Illinois.
Cynthia grew up in California and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Buena Park, California. She continued her post-secondary studies and earned an associate degree in nursing from Cypress Community College in Cypress, California.
While in High School Cynthia met the love of her life, David Lee Gibbs, and they celebrated their love and lifelong commitment to each other on their wedding day, June 7, 1969, in California. Over the years, David and Cynthia made countless happy memories while raising their children, Jeffry and Jill, in Southern California.
She loved to cook and shop, and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors, getting together for coffee or just chatting. Those who sought her for advice or comfort could always count on her for what they needed. As a Certified Registered Nurse, Cynthia had a fulfilling nursing career in Maternity and Postpartum Care at Pomona Valley Hospital, Pomona, California. On the job, she was a mentor to new nurses who were just starting their careers, and to whom she was a trusted source of help. Her expertise earned the respect and confidence of the doctors and administrators at the hospital, and they knew her patients always had the best of care. It always was working with patients that gave her the most satisfaction, and from an early age, she believed she was made to do hands-on patient care. After 36 years of dedication to her patients, Cynthia retired in 2015.
Cynthia is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, David Lee Gibbs, of McKinney, Texas; children, Jeffry Gibbs and wife Brenda, of Princeton, Texas, and Jill Sidange, of Potterville, Michigan; nine grandchildren, Christopher Monk and wife CeCe, Melissa Parada and husband Kris, John “JJ” Sidange, David Sidange, Erik Gibbs and wife Jessica, Alannah Gibbs, Lilli Gibbs, Ashton Ferris, and Dakota Strickland; great grandchildren, Melody Monk, Harrison Monk, Mackenzee Monk, Lola Parada, Anahleigha Riggs, and Emery Ivy Gibbs; brother, Shawn Rockwell, of Moline, Illinois; and a host of extended loving family members and friends, who will miss her, and fondly cherish her memory.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents Richard and JoAnn Rockwell, two sisters, and three brothers.
