Cynthia Ann Cockrell

Cynthia Ann Tolleson Cockrell passed away at her home in Prosper, Texas on August 31, 2008 after a four year battle with cancer. She was born in McKinney, Texas on July 23, 1956 to Dan and Mary Ann Tolleson. She was a lifelong resident of Prosper. Cynthia "Queen" graduated from Prosper High School in 1974 and received her Bachelor Degree from Texas A&M University in 1978 and her Masters Degree from Texas A&M Commerce in 1987. She taught 4th grade in Hearne, Texas for two years before moving back to Prosper where she was a classroom teacher for 25 years. At Prosper she taught Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades before spending her last three years as an Assistant Principal at Folsom and Rucker Elementary Schools. She was also the District Testing Coordinator for Prosper ISD. Cynthia was a lifelong educator and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing or working with her. She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Tolleson, Sr. and her brother, Chris Tolleson. Cynthia is survived by her husband of 30 years and best friend, John Cockrell; sons, Joshua Lee, Jared Lane and Jacob Lance Cockrell all of Prosper, Texas; mother, Mary Ann Tolleson; brother, Dan Tolleson, Jr., of Prosper, Texas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2008. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at High Pointe Church of Christ, 3201 N. Central Expressway, McKinney, Texas. Interment will follow at Old Celina Cemetery.
