IN LOVING MEMORY

Cynthia “Cindy” Ford North

Oct 11 1958 - Oct 06 2022

Cynthia “Cindy” Ford North passed away after a valiant fight with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s disease on October 6, 2022, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 63. She was born on October 11, 1958, to Burton and Jane Ford in Columbia, Missouri. Cindy grew up primarily in Newport, Arkansas, where she was a shepherd to her two younger siblings, popular student, Whippet drill team member, tennis player, and summer worker on the family farm. She graduated from Newport High School in 1977 and moved on to the big city of Dallas, Texas, to enroll in Southern Methodist University. At SMU she was an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma while studying Psychology and Women’s Studies. Upon graduation in 1981, she enjoyed great success in office equipment sales for Xerox, where she was a member of the President’s Club, and in commercial real estate leasing. Cindy married her life’s love, Brig North, in July of 1988, in Newport. She went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1990 and worked for the Child & Family Guidance Center.

However, her greatest achievement was becoming a mom to her beloved daughter Katie. Cindy stayed at home to take care of her, coordinate play dates, and maintain connection in her multitude of relationships. She was an incredibly helpful influence in Brig’s business practices, and she was his daily sounding board and behind-the-scenes advisor. She was involved in Northpark Presbyterian Church, participated in Katie’s school and extracurricular activities, and touched many lives by tutoring for AVID at Lake Highlands Junior High. Cindy had an eye for beauty in her hobbies as a gardener and seamstress of craft pillows, which she proudly turned into a business by taking orders and selling them at the famed Market in the Meadow. She had a brilliant smile and the very best unmistakable laugh, which she used freely and often. She also had a fiery determination, and when she put her mind to something, she never took “no” for an answer. She never met a stranger; everyone with whom she interacted left feeling seen and cared for. Cindy was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her creativity, tenacity, kindness, and generosity of heart made an unforgettable mark on those she loved. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Brig North; daughter Katie North; sisters Sherri Broom and Christine Ford; sister-in-law Melissa Isaac; and a host of loving relatives and friends.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, Burton and Jane Ford.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice—Cindy would appreciate that!
