Cookie Leach, age 100, of McKinney, Texas, passed away May 10, 2016. Cookie was born October 15, 1915, in Lucas, Texas, to Earl and Musa (Gray) Cook. She married Joe Henry Leach on May 23, 1942, in McKinney, Texas. Cookie worked as a secretary and transcriptionist for the Veteran’s Administration and Job Corps in McKinney as well as a secretary for Boyd, Veigel, and Gay law firm also in McKinney. She was a member of First Christian Church in McKinney for over sixty-five years where she sang with the Chancel Choir for over forty years. Cookie was also a member of The Red Hat Society and The Diamonds In The Rough Singing Group.
She is survived by her son, Larry Leach of Frisco, Texas; grandson, Julian Ross “J. R.” Leach, also of Frisco; and numerous other loving relatives and church friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Neill Grimes officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
