Connie Wyone Gumm Whiteley

Connie Wyone Gumm Whiteley, age 81, of Celina, Texas, passed away March 27, 2022. Connie was born March 25, 1941, in Leon, Iowa, to William Conn and Nola Edith (Martin) Gumm. She married Gary Dail Whiteley on December 5, 1964, in Leon, Iowa. For most of her career, Connie was an executive secretary, predominantly in the banking and insurance industries. However, her passion had always been in music. From a young age, she played the organ, piano, keyboards, and accordion. She frequently participated in trios, quartets, ensembles, and choirs; and most often sang duets with her husband. While living in Iowa, she regularly sang on the radio, while actively playing in her home church. In both Colorado and Texas, she played the organ and sang for praise and worship services, she sang multiple specials, and over the years, she wrote numerous gospel songs.

She is survived by her sons, Chris Whiteley of Celina, Texas and Chad Whiteley and wife, Amy of Euless, Texas; grandchildren, Conner Whiteley and fiancé, Sunnie Wacasey, Addison Whiteley, and Cade Whiteley; nieces, Kellie Sinclair, Sarah Peck, and Lorah Arnold; and nephews, Michael Curran, Jason Whiteley, Brad Whiteley, and Matt Whiteley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Eldon Rex.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Gateway Church, 7125 Legacy Drive, Frisco, Texas, 75034.
