Colette Renee Trahan of Trenton, Texas was released from her pain and suffering on September 12, 2016, at the age of 53 after a long battle with Breast Cancer. She was born February 24, 1963, in Dallas TX to Perlis (PJ) and Melba (Watson) Trahan. Colette was a graduate of North Garland High School where she played on the Girls Basketball and Soccer teams. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in Education and then went on to earn a Master’s Degree at Texas Women’s University. Colette was a Physical Education teacher and Coach at McKinney Slaughter Elementary School in McKinney, Texas where she taught for 15 years. She truly loved teaching and touched the lives of thousands of students throughout her teaching tenure.
Colette is survived by her daughter, Myka Porter of McKinney, Texas; siblings, Janet Thomas and husband Mike of Rockwall, Texas, Steve Trahan and wife Theresia of Rowlett, Texas, and Pamela Bohn and Husband Rob of Shreveport, Louisiana; mother, Melba Trahan of Rowlett, Texas; father, PJ Trahan and wife Joanie of Howe, Texas; nieces and nephews, LeAnn and Tony Thomas, Emilie and Zack Hill, Britny McKenzie, and Blake Trahan; along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow in Allen, Texas, with longtime friend Rev. Vivian Davis officiating.
