IN LOVING MEMORY

Col. William John Blitt, Sr.

Jan 17 1945 - Sep 25 2022

William Blitt was born January 17, 1945, to Jacob and Helen Blitt in New York, NY. After graduating from George Westinghouse Technical High School in 1962, he attended the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. While there, he met his future wife, Mary Sullivan, whom he married in June 1966. They spent 56 years together and raised three children: Mary Ann, William, and Edward.  He proudly served his country for 26 years as an F4 navigator, a staff officer, and a leader. One of his favorite assignments was as the Air Force ROTC Commander at Michigan State University where he had the opportunity to help guide young people preparing to become Air Force officers. After his retirement from the Air Force, Bill joined Collin College in Plano, TX where he worked for 21 years as a Computer Science instructor and eventually as a Dean.  He was an active member of his church, St. Jude’s in Allen, TX where he served as a Lay Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at the food pantry. During his free time, Bill enjoyed taking cruises with Mary, visiting his children and grandchildren, and watching his favorite sports teams: the Denver Broncos, the Air Force Falcons, and the Tottenham Hotspurs.

Bill is survived by his wife Mary, his three children, and four grandchildren. Visitation will be at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, TX on October 7, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The memorial service will be at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Allen, TX on October 8, 2022 at 10:00 am. Burial with full military honors will be at the U.S. Air Force Academy, date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Allen Food Pantry or to a scholarship.
