Col. James G. Luehrs M.D.

Dr. James Gerhardt Luehrs, 73 unexpectantly passed away June 14, 2005 in Plano. Born May 20, 1932 in Ontario, Oregon to Karl G. and Betty (Wells) Luehrs. Dr. Luehrs was a retired Colonel with 27 years of military service. He was a surgeon with first the Navy and then the Army during his long, proud career. Dr. Luehrs was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was called back to service for Operation Desert Storm. He was credited with starting the Army’s first Emergency Medicine Residency program. He had a private practice in Texarkana in the 1980’s and after Desert Storm moved to the Dallas area working in emergency medicine. In 1999, opened East Park Medical Clinic. He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Luehrs of East Plano; daughters, Kristen Garrison (Greg), Ginnifer Garrison (Bryon) of Rowlett; Elizabeth Luehrs of E. Plano; Daena Skolbolski (Del) Spokane, WA; sons, Kevin Luehrs (Patty) Lewisville, CO and Michael Luehrs (Eva) Oregon. Ten grandchildren: Katherine, Betsy, Kevin, Grif, Carly, Vevaka, Lauren, Emerson, Landry and Landon. Dr. Luehrs leaves behind many beloved patients, his office staff Tanya Green and Chere Willmon and dear, dear friends. He will be missed by us all yet his memory will live on in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, June 18, 2005 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Mr. Rick Duffield officiating.
