Cody Powell, age 23, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. He is survived by his loving family: father, Billy, mother, Cynthia, and sister, Hannah. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Frank and Patsy Morris, and his paternal grandmother, Brenda Powell. Cody is remembered fondly by his aunts and uncles, Shelley and Jerry Jones, Cassie and Tim Moody, and Tonya and Mike Buzbee, as well as his cherished cousins, Jessica Stewart and her husband Kyle, Brett Moody, Joseph Jones, Mara Marquez and her husband David, Michael Buzbee and his wife Christie, Nathan Buzbee and his wife Tiffany, and Brittany Bennett and her husband Shane. He was preceded in death by his papaw, Jimmie Powell.
Cody was a lifelong member of Northwest Christian Church and had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and simply embracing nature. His passion for sports was evident in his younger years playing baseball and more recently, pickleball. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, often found cheering them on from home. Video games and listening to music were other favorite pastimes, especially when shared with friends.
Known for his big heart and generous spirit, Cody was always there for others, ensuring his friends never went without. He had a multitude of friends and usually never said bye without saying he loved them. His love for animals was evident; he brought home dogs, pigs, and even hundreds of chickens over the years. Cody's infectious smile and sense of humor could light up any room, and he never parted ways without expressing his love for those close to him.
Cody will be deeply missed by his family and countless friends, whose lives he touched with his kindness and warmth.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will also be live streamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/cody-ryan-powell.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
