Clyde Cecil Thompson, Jr., a resident of Allen, Texas, passed away on October 19, 2023. He was born on August 10, 1940 to the late Clyde Cecil Thompson, Sr. and Lucille (Couch) Thompson in Oak Grove, Louisiana.
On June 30, 1962, Clyde married the love of his life, Ada Laverne Bennett, in Oak Grove. Their union was filled with love and companionship until Laverne’s passing. Together, they had built a beautiful life filled with two daughters and two grandsons, and many cherished memories.
Clyde was the proud owner of Clyde C. Thompson Trucking, a successful business based in Monroe, Louisiana. With his unwavering dedication and strong work ethic, he established himself as a prominent figure in the trucking industry, leaving a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Clyde was an active member of various organizations. He was a proud member of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana and reached the prestigious 32nd degree Freemasonry in Eros, Louisiana. His dedication to Freemasonry showcased his commitment to his community and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Clyde was also a member of the Shriner Association. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Clyde genuinely cared for others and supported charitable causes to help make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Clyde was not just a man of strong character and professional success; he was also a devoted family man. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were the light of his life. He cherished his role as “Daddy” to his girls, he was the "Best Dad in The World", and to his grandsons as “Pop”, he ‘set the golden standard’ for what good men are meant to be. Faith played an integral role in Clyde's life, and he was a member of Pine Grove Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
Clyde Cecil Thompson, Jr. was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and the countless lives he has touched throughout the years.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Kennedy and Leslie Thompson, both of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Kennedy and Mathew Kennedy also of Texas; sister, Martha Smith of Jackson, Mississippi; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
Clyde was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne Thompson; parents, Clyde and Lucille Thompson; and brother, James Thompson.
