Clyde Allen Hesser, age 96, of Parker, Texas, passed away January 13, 2018. Clyde was born March 19, 1921, in Big Rapids, Michigan, to Ernest and Myrtle (Troup) Hesser. He married LaVerne Lipps on June 5, 1943, in Paris, Arkansas, after knowing each other for one week. Clyde went overseas for eighteen months shortly after their wedding. They would have been married seventy-five years on June 5th. Clyde proudly served in the United States Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant in the 14th Armored Division, also known as the Liberators, serving under General Patton. During the war, his division liberated 110,000 prisoners of war in Moosberg, Germany. Clyde was a member of the Plano American Legion #321. He was a painting contractor all of his life. Clyde was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Fairview, Texas where he was a member of the Wild Bunch Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Hesser of Parker, Texas; daughter, Janice Russell and husband, Rick, also of Parker; son, Jim Hesser of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren, Stacy Hesser Engleman, Courtney Bruce and husband, Jeremy, Benji Russell and wife, Stacey, and Dusty Russell; great-grandchildren, Michael Bruce, Mason Russell, and Stella Grace Russell; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ernie Hesser, Earl Hesser, and Marvin Hesser, and sisters, Betty Byes and Lucille Harper.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Friendship Baptist Church in Fairview, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening, January 16, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. The family will also receive friends during a visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at the church prior to the service.
