Clinton Hysmith, age 89, passed away January 5, 2024 in The Woodlands, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carole; parents, Clinton and Helen Hysmith; brothers, Wayne Hysmith, Charles Hysmith and Robert Hysmith; sisters, Loretta Patton, Ruby Sireno, and Caroline Diaz; and grandson Christopher Haley. Clinton was born September 7, 1934 in Galveston, Texas. He graduated in 1952 from La Marque High School. Clinton married Carole Cummings on June 18, 1953. They had three beautiful daughters. Clinton and Carole had a loving marriage of 58 years. He loved dancing with his beautiful wife at every opportunity. Clinton was also a long-time member and servant of the United Methodist faith.
In 1967, Clinton went to work for Mobil Chemical Plant in Beaumont, Texas as a Safety Advisor. He continued working for the Mobil Corporation until his retirement in 1993 from the Mobil Headquarters in Dallas, Texas. Clinton was very active as an instructor and leader of the Industrial Fire Training School at Texas A&M University while working and during retirement. He was honored with the prestigious Henry D. Smith Award for his dedication, knowledge and enthusiasm while volunteering as an instructor.
Clinton’s passion was golf. He played as often as the weather would allow. When traveling with his wife, Carole, he always made sure there was a golf course nearby. He served as president of the Board of Directors for Hurricane Creek Country Club in Anna, Texas.
In February 2021, Clinton moved to a retirement center in The Woodlands, Texas, to be closer to family. He met many new friends and served as Vice President of The Village Residents Association Board.
Clint, as friends called him, was a loving and kind man with a big heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Clinton was well known for his humorous ways and he always enjoyed making others laugh. He also loved his football team, the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Savarino and husband Sal of Spring, Texas, Carrie Martin and husband Gary of Kountze, Texas, Merri Haley and husband Mike of Dayton, Texas; grandchildren, Clinton Martin and wife Nicole, Krystal Harvey and husband James, Nancy Martin and husband Brandon Smith, Samuel Savarino and wife Amber, and Justin Cunningham; great-grandchildren, Emily and Khale Martin, Violet Martin, Dixie and Emma Harvey, Elijah and Owen Smith Martin, and many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Clinton will be dearly missed, but we rejoice in his eternal life with our Lord.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Ridgeview Memorial Park 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.
