Clayton Douglas "Doug" Rivenbark, Sr.

Mr. Clayton Douglas “Doug” Rivenbark, Sr., age 76 of Dallas, TX passed away December 27, 2004. He was born October 5, 1928 in Haynesville, LA to Matthew James Rivenbark, M.D. and Cloteal (Sherman) Rivenbark. Doug graduated from Haynesville High School in 1946 and graduated from Wake Forest College with a B. S. Degree in Pre-Med in 1950. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict was he was assigned to the 5th Air Force in Seoul, Korea reported on August 10, 1952 for Combat Duty on a rotation basis after flying 75 missions. While under the command of the 5th U.S.A.F. in Seoul and flying combat missions, he received the D.F.C. Cross, Air Medal (3 oak cluster), the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. After his release from the U.S.A.F. on October 3, 1955 as a pilot, he was hired by Delta Air Lines in Atlanta, GA as a commercial pilot and served 32 years retiring in 1987 as an International Captain. Flying was his life. On December 1, 1984 in Dallas, TX, Doug married Penelope Helms. He was a member of the Park Cities Baptist Church and a member of 52 Baker. He is survived by his wife, Penny Rivenbark; son, Clayton Douglas Rivenbark, Jr.; both of Dallas; and his aunt, Dottie Rivenbark of New Orleans, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents.
