Clarence Turner Bronaugh, age 85, passed away February 14, 2025, in McKinney, Texas. He was born on November 8, 1939, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to his loving parents Clarence Turner and Beulah Blanche (Gardner) Bronaugh.
CT was reared in Holdenville, and could often be found at the community pool, where he taught swim lessons and served as a lifeguard. It was also in Holdenville where CT met the love of his life, Vicki Olivo.
Following high school graduation, CT attended Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and East Central State College in Ada, Oklahoma, playing football at both. He interrupted his college career to spend two years in the US Army, where he also played for the Eighth Army in Korea. After receiving honorable discharge, CT returned to East Central, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
On March 27, 1964, CT and Vicki eloped and committed themselves to one another in the Methodist Church in Kingston, Oklahoma. Their marriage blessed them with two wonderful children, David and Rebecca. While CT had strong interests in water-related activities and football, his primary interest was that of his family. When he wasn’t working, he was spending time with Vicki and their children, and later three grandchildren who loved hearing detailed accounts of stories from years past. CT’s home life was always the most important thing to him and he took great pride in loving, providing for, and making countless memories with those he loved most.
CT’s story was a life well-lived, full of both personal and professional achievements. Upon graduating from college, CT began what would be a 34-year career with Texaco. CT began his career with Texaco, Inc., in Fort Worth, Texas, starting as a sales representative. Working hard and moving through the company, CT held various positions. When Texaco established a new subsidiary, Texaco Lubricants Company, CT was selected to join the new company, where he served as District Manager of eight western states. He retired from Texaco in 1998, after a long, successful career.
In retirement, CT and Vicki spent many years living between their sail boat, docked in League City, Texas, and their home in Ruidoso, New Mexico. An avid lover of all things water related, after selling the sail boat, CT and Vicki opted for a water-front home in Corpus Christi, Texas. The couple eventually moved to Weatherford, Texas and continued to spend time at their home in Ruidoso. Most recently, CT and Vicki moved to McKinney, Texas. Countless memories were created for the couple and their children and grandchildren in each home.
CT is survived by his wife of sixty years, Vicki, of McKinney, Texas; son, Dr. David Bronaugh (Dr. Heather), of Slidell, Louisiana; daughter, Rebecca Priddy (Wayne), of Caddo Mills, Texas; grandchildren, Lauren, Piper and Lance; and a host of extended family and friends.
CT was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Blanche Bronaugh, and sisters Cora Baker and Nancy Gullatt.
In lieu of a funeral, CT had requested a celebration of life, which will be held in the spring.
