Clarence Olen Gattenby

Clarence Olen Gattenby of Allen, Texas passed September 5, 2021 at the age of 90.  He was born on January 10, 1931 to James Gilbert Gattenby and Ida Lucy (Riley) Gattenby in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma.  Clarence served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict.  He married Margaret Jane (Randall) Gattenby on October 22, 1955 in McAlister, Oklahoma.  Clarence spent most of his career with Braniff Airlines as an airline mechanic.  He loved music; especially playing the fiddle.  Clarence was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, Texas.  He later was a member of the Catholic Church in Terrell, Texas and in his last years of St. Jude Catholic Church in Allen.  Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He is survived by his son, Warren G. Gattenby and wife, Jacque of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughter, Lucinda Smola and husband, Don of Fairview, Texas; daughter, Elizabeth Cawley and Maury Cureton of Wylie, Texas; son, Randall Gattenby and wife, Debbie of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Lorna Diss, Carin Avila, Danielle Howie, Rachel Gattenby, and Elaine Gattenby; five great-grandchildren; numerous other loving family members and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Gattenby; parents, James and Ida Gattenby; three sisters, and six brothers.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 20, 2021, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013.  The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Clarence’s obituary page by clicking on the following link:https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/clarence-olen-gattenby.  The recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. 

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:15 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2021 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

Family and friends are invited to Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home at their convenience on Sunday, September 19, 2021 to pay their respects and to sign the register book.

Memorial contributions may be made in Clarence’s honor to St. Jude Catholic Church, 1515 North Greenville Avenue, Allen, Texas 75002.
