Clara “Beth” Miller, 97, passed away on October 16, 2023, surrounded by family in McKinney Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Miller. She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Mary Mobley (David Mobley), and Judy Miller (Dallas Jones), and grandchildren, Rachel, William, and Andrew (Alyssa). Beth was a vivacious, social person who loved being with people. She enjoyed parties, arts and crafts, and sewing. She loved games like dominos and bridge and could play for hours on a penny slot machine. Holidays were always special to her, and she made them special for everyone else.
She was born in Arkansas on May 22, 1926, and grew up in East Texas on a large farm with pigs, chickens, and cattle along with a bountiful garden. She loved going back there to visit and relax in the country. She graduated high school in Timpson, Texas and married a hometown boy, Bill Miller. She was a devoted wife and mother who followed her banker husband to many small towns in Texas where she raised her two daughters. She was a talented seamstress and clothed her daughters in many finely crafted garments. She was also a stylish person who loved shopping and wearing fashionable clothes. She enjoyed hosting bridge parties, ladies’ socials, and dinner parties. She relished traveling with her husband to banking conventions around the country and playing golf in many places. She proudly made a hole in one.
After her husband’s retirement, they moved to a house on the golf course in Hideaway Texas. There they enjoyed an active social life with many friends who participated in golfing, card games, and outings. In their later years, they moved to McKinney to be near their daughter and enjoy their grandchildren. Beth was a faithful Catholic with a strong devotion to Mary.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Church, 110 St Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas 75071.
