Christopher Donald Collinvitti

Christopher Donald Collinvitti, 58, of Plano, Texas, formerly of Moundsville, West Virginia, and Cadiz, Ohio, passed away November 7, 2017. He was born October 19, 1959, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Donald A. and Dorothy (Krupp) Collinvitti.

Chris was a 1978 graduate of John Marshall High School in Glendale, West Virginia.  He received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and received a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

He was employed for 35 years by Raytheon (formerly Texas Instruments) in McKinney, Texas. At the time of his death he worked as a Senior Principal Systems Engineer on Navigation and GPS systems for the defense industry.  Chris was highly-respected by his technical peers and management. He moved up through the technical ranks as an expert in his field.  Chris was awarded a shared patent for his innovative work.

He enjoyed scuba diving, hunting and shooting sports, and was a Lifetime Member of the NRA. He was a member of the Grand Prairie Gun Club in Grand Prairie, TX, where he won several awards.  He was also a licensed amateur radio operator (Call sign WB8UKQ). Chris was of the Christian / Baptist faith.

Chris is survived by his wife, Cynthia D. Collinvitti of Plano, Texas; brother, Thomas L. Collinvitti of Saint Peters, Missouri; sisters, Deborah (John) Shook of Moundsville, West Virginia, and Melanie M. Collinvitti of Martins Ferry, Ohio; niece, Heather J. Shook of Moundsville, West Virginia; brother-in-law, Wendell Dang of Renton, Washington; aunts, Pennie Pashalis and Doris Collinvitti of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Evelyn Wilkerson of Larned, Kansas; uncle, Robert Showalter of Akron, Ohio; and numerous cousins and friends.

Chris was preceded in death by his father in 2011 and mother in 2012.

A funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Wednesday evening, November 15, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
