Christine Culbertson Rissmiller

Christine (Culbertson) Rissmiller passed away on January 16, 2018 at the age of 96.  She was born in Shelby County, Missouri on September 16, 1921 to Henry and Edna Culbertson.  Christine was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was saved and baptized at age 16.  She graduated from Shelbyville High School and was employed by a local attorney in the area doing secretarial work.  On January 31, 1943, she married Rev. Austin Rissmiller of Hannibal, Missouri. They spent their lives doing ministry work in Missouri and lived in the towns of Edina, La Plata, Bowling Green, Troy and Shelbyville.  For the past 17 years, Christine lived in McKinney, Texas.  She was always actively serving in the Baptist churches where they lived, teaching children and working in the mission organizations.  In addition to raising four children, Christine also enjoyed making decorative pillows, quilting and spending many hours crocheting. In all, she made over 60 afghans.

Christine is survived by her 4 children and their spouses, Carol Meisenheimer and husband, Jim of Katy, Texas, Mark Rissmiller and wife, Jean of Allen, Texas, Ruth Bowling and husband, John of Gunter, Texas and Charlene Gaddis and husband, Todd of Dallas, Georgia; 8 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Austin; her parents, Henry and Edna Culbertson; and her brother and his wife, Sonny and Katherine Culbertson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church Chapel, 1615 W. Louisiana, McKinney, Texas 75069.
