IN LOVING MEMORY

Christian Adolph Andersen

Jun 08 1937 - Jun 17 2022

Christian Adolph Andersen, child of God, beloved father and husband, peacefully left this veil of tears to be with the Lord early June 17, 2022.  Chris was preceded in death by his parents, Christian Schmidt and Nathalie Theresa Andersen, the love of his life Betty Jean Andersen and their daughter, Cynthia Jean Best.  He is survived by his son Christian Ralph Andersen and his son-in-law, Terry Allen Best. Chris is also survived by his brother and wife, Andrew and Thora Mae Andersen and their families.

Chris was born on June 8, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.  His family moved to Fox Lake, Illinois where he met and married Betty Jean Buikema on June 13, 1959 the week after he graduated Beloit College.  He then began his career as a scientist.  His son, Christian Ralph, was born in 1962 and his daughter, Cynthia Jean, in 1964.  He achieved a doctorate in geology, worked with NASA during the first moon missions discovering a previously unknown lunar compound, and was instrumental in the development of the ion microprobe and plasma torch now commonly used in scientific research and taught their use and theory at the University of Santa Barbara.   He retired from his scientific career to care for Betty Jean after her diagnosis of breast cancer.

Chris was a child of God and dedicated his life to his family and the study of the Word over any honors the world offered him. He studied and taught the Word most of his adult life and led by example and witness.  He was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2018 and then COVID-related pneumonia in January 2022 from which he never recovered.  I write this not for compassion but to let you know that he always relied on the strength of the Lord providing strong witness throughout to all who knew and met him even in these last months.   All glory to the Lord for His marvelous works.
