IN LOVING MEMORY

Chris Coffey

Aug 03 1963 - Nov 22 2024

Christopher Alan Coffey passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, surrounded by his family. Chris was born to James Edward and Shirley Lou (Cook) Coffey on August 3, 1963, in Dallas, Texas and grew up in Plano, Texas.

Chris graduated from Plano Senior High School in 1981 and upon graduation, purchased a home and moved to Van Alstyne, Texas, to be closer to his job at the feedlot, where he had been working since high school.  Chris earned his associate’s degree from Austin College, and he held Air Conditioning/Refrigeration Contractor and Master Electrician licenses from the State of Texas.

Weeks prior to his death, Chris left his job as Service Manager at Total Air & Heat with plans to spend a lot more time at his farm in Wade, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed getting out of the “bright lights and big city” (as he would say) of Van Alstyne. He spent several years and a lot of hard work making the farm a nice getaway for his family and friends. He enjoyed the peace and quiet, working cattle with the guys, watching the deer, and maintaining his farm.

Chris will always be remembered for his undeniable presence when he walked in a room, his hilarious sense of humor, his integrity and character, and his love of life, family, friends, and how he spoiled his dogs over the years. It was impossible to spend time with him, whether in person or on a phone call, without enjoying a gut-busting laugh at some point in the conversation.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley; brother, Mike Coffey (Susan); sister, Shelley Jones; nieces, Catherine Carroll (Mike) and Courtney Coffey; grand-niece, Adelyn Carroll; grand-nephew, Graham Carroll; his longtime partner, Carol Pruitt; her son, Craig Howard; her daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Brandon Roach, and their children, Parker and Nate; and many other family members, friends, and former colleagues who will cherish his memory.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, James Coffey.

A memorial service for Chris will be held at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Plano, Texas on December 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception for family and friends.
