Chloe Atkinson Herzog, age 81, of McKinney, Texas, passed away on January 5, 2025. Chloe was born January 23, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Jack and Ellen (Clinger) Atkinson. She married James Herzog on February 3, 1962, in Cincinnati.
After marrying the love of her life, Jim, Chloe devoted herself to her family as a mostly stay-at-home mom, placing a focus on her four beloved children. She always had love, a kind word, and heartfelt memories of her extended family in Kentucky. Throughout the years, she worked various jobs outside of the home, with her favorite being library assistant. She was an avid reader, and immensely proud of her growing book collection, to the extent that Jim had to build her a custom bookcase. Chloe also enjoyed gardening, the sunny outdoors, volunteer work, and music. Her favorite musician was Willie Nelson, with her favorite song being ‘Georgia on My Mind’. Chloe was known to be strong-willed and strong-minded, as we grapple with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the love she instilled in us.
She is survived by sons, Jim Herzog and his wife, Holley of Southlake, Texas and Mitch Herzog and his wife, Amy of Wylie, Texas; daughters, Pam Summerlin and her husband Rob, of Frisco, Texas and Kim Garzaniti and her husband, Rob of Canton, Michigan; grandsons, James Herzog, Brandon Summerlin, Nick Summerlin, and Parker Herzog; granddaughters, Ashleigh Haworth, Samantha Isom, Rebecca Leventis, and Sydney Spicer; five great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Chloe was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband Jim.
