Cheryl Puetz of Plano, Texas passed away on January 19, 2022 at the age of 65. She was born on September 5, 1956 to Edgar and Jean (Maceachern) Handley in Detroit, Michigan. Cheryl grew up in Michigan but got to Texas as quickly as she could and loved all things western. She was the youngest of six children. She was full of life & a free spirit in her younger years. Cheryl had a great sense of humor and could always entertain a crowded room. Her greatest joy in life was becoming a mother to her one son, Erik. Motherhood completed her. She was loving, caring, and giving to those she loved. Cheryl enjoyed being a grandma later in life.
She was a fan of all things country music. George Strait was her favorite to sing along with and she proudly carried her George Strait “fan club” membership around in her wallet. She enjoyed cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys season after season. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
She is survived by her son, Erik James Shaner and wife, Laci J of Whitewright, Texas; grandchildren, Erik “Jaxon” and Hank James; life partner, Charles “Dana” Prall of Plano, Texas; sisters, Charlene Lemens, Kyle Barron and husband, Mike, and Carlene Wojnar; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Samuel Maceachern; brothers, Bruce and Byron Handley; husband, Thomas Puetz.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday January 28, 2022 at First Whitewright Church in Whitewright, Texas.
