IN LOVING MEMORY

Cheryl Louise Reese

Feb 22 1945 - Jul 13 2018

Cheryl Louise (Holterman) Reese of McKinney, Texas, passed away on July 13, 2018, at the age of 73. She was born on February 22, 1945, to Adrian and Alma (Price) Holterman in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Cheryl met the love of her life, Doug Reese, when she was 15, and they married on July 2, 1965, in Espanola, New Mexico. Their daughters Krisann and Shelly were born in New Mexico, and the family moved to Stratford, Texas, in 1972. There, Cheryl and Doug’s family grew to six with the births of Stacy and Scott.

Active in the Stratford community, Cheryl volunteered and taught Sunday school in the church, and she opened a preschool. Music was always in her heart; she participated in a music club, sang for the church (both in the choir and as a soloist), and performed with a choral group at events in Stratford and neighboring towns. In 1994, she and Doug moved to Borger, Texas where she was a member of the choir and praise team at First Baptist Church. Cheryl volunteered at the local nursing home and worked as a counselor for seven years at CareNet Pregnancy Center in Borger.

Cheryl was a beacon of love and light for all who met her. Even to her children’s friends she was “mom,” a ready confidant whose sweet smile and kind words told them that her home was also theirs.

Cheryl is survived by her children, Krisann Gaiko and husband, Jason, of Allen; Shelly Ricketson and husband, Jeff, of Stratford; Stacy Pollard and husband, Thomas, of McKinney; Scott Reese and wife, Sarah, of Princeton; grandchildren, Whitney, Lane, Reese, Riley, Paige, Ryan, Jaxon, and Abel; great-grandchildren, Adrienne, Jett, and Callan; and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doug; and her brother, Daniel Holterman.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas, 75013. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Cheryl’s honor to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
