Cheryl Y. Barnes, age 58, of Garland, Texas, passed away January 29, 2015, in Dallas, Texas. Cheryl was born November 9, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, to Leon and LeeAnna (Brown) Alexander. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park in Richardson, Texas.

She is survived by her Father, Leon Alexander of Dallas, Texas; sister, Carol Alexander of Dallas, Texas; brother, Leon Alexander, Jr., also of Dallas; and nieces, Lynn Alexander and Sandra Harris, both of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her mother, LeeAnna Alexander; sister, Linda Harris; and her grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, at First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park 300 E. Phillips, Richardson, Texas. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

Cheryl Barnes was a dear friend from graduate school at Texas A&M Commerce. We became instant friends and our friendship continued until her death. I will always remember Cheryl's kindness, smile, and gentle spirit. She truly left a footprint on my life. While I am sad at her passing, I am comforted in knowing that she is healed and is at peace in Heaven. Cheryl Barnes will be sorely missed but always truly loved.
