Cherilyn Maree Davis

Cherilyn Maree (Cruse) Davis, a resident of Allen, Texas, passed away April 20, 2025 at the age of 70. She was born on July 12, 1954, to her loving parents, Robert Cruse and Shirlee (Hershey) Cruse, in Dallas, Texas. Cheri grew up in Dallas and graduated from Carter High School. She continued her post-secondary undergrad studies earning a bachelor’s degree at Oklahoma Christian University, then graduate studies at Texas Women’s University for her master’s degree.  

Cheri was a devoted educator, faithful servant, and beloved family member. She dedicated 36 years to shaping young minds in the Ferris Independent School District, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues. A longtime member of Ovilla Church of Christ, her faith guided her daily life and interactions with everyone she met. Whether she was spending time with her 3 grandchildren, diving into a favorite card game, or cheering on her beloved Texas Rangers, she brought joy and energy into every room she entered. 

More than anything, she cherished time spent with her family. Her warmth and unwavering love created countless treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. 

Cheri is survived by her devoted son, Kyle (wife Natalie), and grandchildren, Elijah, Meadow, and Leighton, of Celina, Texas; mother, Shirlee Cruse, of Ovilla, Texas; sisters, Debbi Brazil (husband Andy), of Red Oak, Texas, Marci Brown (husband Milt), of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Lorri Hoyle (husband David), of Ovilla, Texas; nieces and nephews, Logan, Hayley, Jared, and MacKenzi; former husband, Kevin Davis and his family, Kurtis and Karl Davis. Cheri will be deeply missed and forever remembered by a host of extended family members, friends, and colleagues. 

Cheri was preceded in death by her father, Robert Cruse. 

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Ovilla Church of Christ, 3420 Ovilla Road, Ovilla, Texas 75154.
