Charlotte (Odom) Wall of Prosper, Texas, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 29, 2022, at the age of 79.
On February 9, 1943, Charlotte was born in Gatesville, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth (Palmer) Odom and John Wesley Odom, II. As the child of a military family, Charlotte lived in many places around the world with her parents and younger brother, John, but Charlotte would quickly tell you that there was one place that left the biggest impression on her life…Erlangen, Germany. It was there, in 1959, that she met the absolute and only love of her life…Jerry Wall! Three years later, and thousands of miles away, on December 24, 1961, in Houston, Texas, Charlotte married the man of her dreams and became Mrs. Charlotte Wall.
Both Charlotte and Jerry will tell you that the early years of marriage were not always easy. Still, in those first five years, they built the foundation of what became a beautiful 60-year friendship, love story, and example to others of a strong marriage.
In 1966, Charlotte gave birth to their firstborn, Steven Donald, and two years later, in 1968, they completed their family with the addition of a daughter, Dianne Elizabeth. Charlotte always made her family her number one priority!
For most of her adult life, Charlotte worked in the insurance field. Her work ethic, professionalism, knowledge, and thoughtful approach made her the perfect CSR. Her personality was never one to brag or boast, but as her son-in-law would often say, she knew more about insurance than most agents, including and especially him.
Charlotte was content allowing her “more vocal family members” to take center stage, but make no mistake, Charlotte had strong opinions, and she was willing to share them when she felt compelled. You did not want to debate her on history, politics, or crime shows, as you would have no chance of winning!
Her love for her husband and children was parallel to none UNTIL…the grandbabies were born. Starting with Victoria in 1996, followed by Griffen, Christopher, Nathan, and then McLayne in 2006…. these were her people! If you ever wanted to see passion, fierce loyalty, and complete dedication, ask Charlotte about her grandkids! That seemingly quiet personality would unapologetically let you know that she had the most amazing, beautiful, intelligent, and perfect grandkids.
Charlotte, Suzi Q, Mom, grandma, and Momo will forever be in our hearts. Her husband, kids, grandkids, extended family, and friends will miss her dearly but have peace and comfort that she is rejoicing in Heaven exactly where she is supposed to be. As she reunites with her parents, brother John, and many loved ones, we know she will wait patiently for us to be together again one day.
An earthly life well lived! An eternal life forever!
Charlotte is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Wall of Prosper, Texas; her son, Steven Wall of Plano, Texas; daughter, Dianne Powter, and husband, John of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Victoria Wall of Frisco, Texas, Griffen Powter of Dallas, Texas, Christopher Wall of McKinney, Texas, Nathan Powter of Dallas, Texas, and McLayne Powter of Prosper, Texas; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John Wesley Odom, III.
