Charles Estes Fowler, Sr.

Charles Fowler, Sr., of Leonard, Texas, passed away March 30, 2020, at Medical City in McKinney, Texas. He was born July 29, 1928, to Jim and Delia Fowler in the Bois d'arc community west of McKinney, Texas. He married Wannella Baxter on April 19, 1952, in the Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church in Walnut Grove, Texas. Charles retired after twenty-six years as a firefighter from the Dallas Fire Department and at one time had served as the Chief of the Allen Fire Department and as training instructor. He was also a security guard at University of Texas at Dallas for ten years.

He is survived by his daughter, Christine Gibson of Leonard, Texas; son Charles Fowler, Jr., and wife Jean, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson, Charles Fowler, III, and wife Katie, of Denver, Colorado; and great-grandsons, Luke and Samuel, of Denver; niece, Thresa Fenning of Mesa, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Freida Rose of McKinney, Texas, Aletta Baxter of McKinney, Texas and Nancy Baxter of Cooper, Texas; nieces and nephews, Allan Baxter and wife, Angela of Farmersville, Texas, Theresa Powell and husband, J.J. of McKinney, Texas, Mike Hunter and wife, Linda of McAlester, Oklahoma; great-nieces and nephews, Cody Baxter and wife, Lisa of Greenville, Texas, Cooper Baxter and wife, Hannah of Greenville, Texas, Cynthia Fenning of French Town, Montana, James (Rusty) Freeman of Mesa, Arizona, Jason Shipp of McKinney, Texas, Cerina Sprong of Quinlan, Texas, Shannon Newsome, Royce City, Texas, Angelee Morales of Royce City, Texas; great-great nephew, Casen Baxter.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Wannella Baxter Fowler; brother, James F. Fowler and sister, Mildred McLendon.

Interment will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic there will be no public gatherings at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
