Charles Rodgers Curington

Mr. Charles R. Curington, 75, was born November 18, 1942 in Farmersville, Texas the son of Delbert and Mae Curington. In 1959 he and high school sweetheart Ann Milton began their marriage of 58 years. Charles passed away January 23, 2018 in McKinney Texas.

Charles worked for Continental Emsco in Garland and Amerigas in Wylie, Texas. He volunteered for 40 years with the Farmersville Fire Department, with 15 years as Fire Chief. For 31 years, Charles volunteered and coordinated the western shoot outs as part of Farmersville’s annual Old Time Saturday events. In honor of his service to the town, the Farmersville Public Safety Building was renamed the “Charles R. Curington Public Safety Building” in 2013. Additionally, he received the Farmersville Chamber of Commerce’s “Citizen of the Year for Community Service” in 1980 and their “President’s Award” in 2015, and was inducted into the Farmersville Ex-Students Association’s Hall of Fame in 2012.

Cherishing memories are his wife, Ann Curington of Farmersville, three children; Robyn Olson and husband Scott of Southlake, Texas, Alan Curington of Farmersville and Carrie Petmecky and husband Rob of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, brother; John Curington and wife Mary Ann of Big Sandy, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister; Dorothy Geppert.

Memorial services will be held by Dr. Tom Waitschies on Saturday, at 2:00 P.M February 3, 2018 at the First United Methodist church in Farmersville with a reception to follow in the Family Life Center at the Church. Memorial donations are suggested to the Farmersville Fire Department, Farmersville United Methodist Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
