Charles Robert Chandler of Allen, Texas, passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord on February 15, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on May 7, 1939, to R.J. Chandler and Dorothy Louise (Young) Chandler in Abbott, Texas. He was the oldest of many siblings: Dorothy, Martha, Evelyn, Raymond, David Earl, Johnny, Annette, Janette, and Steven.
Growing up, Charles was a hard worker. In his teen years, he worked to help support his siblings and continued when he had his own family. Charles was the most loving father to his sons, Brian and Bart. He never missed any of the boys’ activities as he felt it was profoundly important for them and him. Charles also felt it was important to be a model for all boys. He coached Little League even before his boys were old enough to play. Charles gave freely of his time and wisdom to each boy he coached.
He served his country proudly in the United States Army. Charles lived in many different cities in Kentucky, Oklahoma and Texas while serving his country, and Camp Campbell Army Base in Kentucky was one of his favorites. In 1956, Charles moved his family to Allen, Texas and made it home for the rest of his life. He worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas, Texas for 37 years. Charles was an avid golfer with a handicap of 4. He loved the game and played as often as he could. Charles was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.
Charles is survived by his wife, Carlena Chandler; sons, Brian Chandler and Bart Chandler; granddaughters, Hadley and Campbell; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, stepfather, father, stepmother, and his precious sister, Martha.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.
The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
