Charles "Chuck" Richard Carlson

Charles Richard Carlson of The Colony, Texas passed away November 23, 2016, at the age of 79.  He was born February 2, 1937, to Verne Carlson and Portia (Fitts) Carlson in Chicago, Illinois.  Charles graduated from high school in Washington, Indiana.  He received a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University. Charles married Velma Chesnut on August 17, 1958, in Washington, Indiana.  His career began with Jefferson Middle School in Washington as a principal, teacher, and coach.   Charles career eventually lead him to educational software and he traveled the country doing so until his retirement in 2000.  He enjoyed his retirement time at the lake.

Charles is survived by his wife, Velma Carlson of The Colony, children, Rick Carlson (Lisa), Randy Carlson (Hollie), Robyn Drake, and Risa Martinelli (Dewey); twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Porita Carlson; grandmother (who raised him), Maryetta Fitts; and aunt and uncle, Robert and Dorothy Hyatt.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Dr. Jack May officiating.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.
