Charles Ray Roberts of McKinney, Texas passed away on August 11, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born on April 2, 1936 to Willie Cecil and Eunice (Hufstutler) Roberts in McKinney, Texas. Charles grew up in McKinney where he attended McKinney schools. He married Edith Laine Mills on July 2, 1955 in Plano, Texas. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2011. Charles joined the United States Army on January 6, 1959, proudly serving his county in Germany where he guarded the Berlin Wall. He worked for 30 years as the store manager at P and R Auto Supply. Charles had recently repaired washers and dryers for his business CR Appliance. He enjoyed going to Choctaw, playing the lottery and watching the Texas Rangers. He was a member of the Foote Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas.
Charles is survived by his son, Ray Keith Roberts and wife, Tammy of Van Alstyne, Texas; daughter, Suzanne Ward and husband, Billy of Blue Ridge, Texas; grandchildren, Joshua Roberts and wife, Angela of Fort Worth, Texas, Summer Roberts of Van Alstyne, Texas, Christopher Taylor of McKinney, Texas, Waylon Ward of New York, New York; great-grandchildren, Zachary Roberts and Zoe Roberts; brother, Ralph Roberts of Granbury, Texas; sister, Dorothy Kennedy of McKinney, Texas; and numerous other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Colton Taylor; and brother, Bill Roberts.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Monday evening, August 15, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
