Charles Randall Cothes

Charles Randall Cothes of Lubbock, Texas, formerly of Beeville, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born to loving parents Grady Edwin and Velma Lucille (Cobb) Cothes on August 25, 1952, in McKinney, Texas.

A proud graduate of Plano High School's class of 1970, Charles went on to pursue higher education at Texas A&M Commerce, formerly East Texas State University. He earned his Master’s degree in 1975, a testament to his dedication and hard work. Shortly after, he began his career with Acco Feed, where he worked as a dairy specialist from 1975 to 1992. Charles had always dreamed of owning his own business, and in 1994, he realized that dream by becoming the owner of numerous McDonald’s restaurants.

An adventurous spirit, Charles had a passion for storm chasing and cherished his annual fishing trips to Alaska. In his college years he rode bulls with the Mesquite Rodeo. He was a dedicated worker, a respected employer, and a devoted family man, placing great importance on spending time with his loved ones.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kathy Jo Cothes, of Lubbock, Texas; daughters, Amanda Gonzales and husband, Manuel of Lubbock, Texas, Elizabeth Cothes and partner, Matt Lee of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan Gonzales and Madilyn Gonzales; and a host of other numerous loving family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, and his granddaughter, Logan Cothes.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. The service will also be live streamed at TJMfuneral.com on Charles’ obituary page by clicking on the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/charles-randall-cothes.  After the service, the recorded live stream will be available for viewing at the same link location.  Following the funeral, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
