IN LOVING MEMORY

Charles Millard Kimball

Jan 29 1939 - Jan 10 2026

Charles Millard Kimball was born on January 29, 1939 to Fred Edward Kimball and Mirtice

Nancy Casey in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He married Choweta Lorene Wells on June 10,

1956, in Dallas, Texas. They were married for 69 years until his passing at home on January

10, 2026.

Charles and Choweta lived in Dallas for several years with their children Arney, Dana, and

Charla. The family moved to the Desert community, south of Whitewright, in 1972. He worked

at Texas Instruments as a mechanical technician for 32 years, retiring in 1996. He probably

worked more in his retirement however, working as a driver for numerous businesses including

Goodwill and Agan Machine Shop in Trenton.

Papa had several things in his life that he really liked. He really liked food- he was always ready

to eat a hamburger, country style ribs, a chicken fried steak, homemade peanut butter. Ice

cream was always a favorite as well- many a day or night was spent at Braum’s and Dairy

Queen. He was a master craftsman in multiple ways, and really enjoyed that too- he made

dollhouses, doll furniture, pushcars and spinning tops for the kids, and carved nameplates. He

made a wonderful playground for his grandkids, complete with a merry-go-round, basketball

goals, and a legendary zipline that went down the hill, thrilling everybody who rode it and

worrying everybody who watched.

He liked classic cars and the “pookie” that went with it (otherwise known as Bondo). He

accumulated quite a collection over the years, the most famous of which was his 1938

Chevrolet Cabriolet with a rumble seat in the back. Many a trip to the Pate Swap Meet was

made to find parts for the 38 Chevy. He liked drawing. He liked movies. He liked toothpicks.

He liked bubble gum. He liked animals, especially his “good poochie” Shadrach. Christmas at

his and Granny’s house was magical, and the Easter egg hunts were legendary.

Papa liked a lot of things. But he LOVED one thing more than anything else in this world- his

family- his wife of 69 years, his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and most

recently, his great-great grandchildren. All of the numerous things he liked, he shared with the

ones he loved. When the kids in his life were sad, he cheered them up with a magnificent

Donald Duck impersonation. The girls of his family were not just girls- they were “Papa’s Angel

Girls.” Every visit started with “There they are,” like he was looking for you, and every visit

ended with a hug and “Papa loves you,” because love was the central virtue and truth of his life.

He sacrificed for them, he looked for ways to serve them, he protected them, and he provided

for them in incredible and profound ways. He loved his family, and his family loved him. We are

fortunate to have had him as long as we have, and we are comforted by the great truth that

faith, hope, and love abide, these three…but the greatest of these is love. We love you, Papa.

Charles is survived by his wife Choweta, son, Arney Dale Kimball, daughters Dana Gale Capps

and Charla Ranae Flowers (Mike), all of Whitewright; grandchildren Shannon Kimball (Evelia),
