Charles A. Melton, a resident of Frisco, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026.

Charlie was born on February 26, 1932, in Hope, New Mexico, and was raised in New Mexico alongside his six siblings. He later joined the United States Air Force, where he served honorably for four years.

After his military service, Charlie attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business. Following graduation, he began his career with Exxon Oil Company, where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. Through his career with Exxon, Charlie and his wife traveled the world and lived in many states, making lifelong friends along the way. After retiring, he lived for a time in New Mexico before returning to Texas, where he remained for the rest of his life.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Ann Melton, and his son, Ronald Melton.

He is survived by his daughter, Kaye Franks and husband Steve of McKinney, and their family, Janette and Erik Johanson, their three kids, Ryan, Reese and Rayne.  His son, Karl Melton and wife Suzanne of Murphy, and their family, Peggy Dyess, Leslie and Tim Dyess.  Granddaughter Alicia Rogers and husband Jason, and their son Lucius Rogers; grandson Jason Dollgener.

Charlie is also survived by his life partner, Carol Jones.  Her love and companionship for the remaining years of his life brought him great comfort and happiness.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family deeply. He enjoyed playing golf and was known as a very good pool player. He touched the lives of many through his kindness, friendship, and the lasting relationships he built throughout his life.

A memorial service will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Frisco Chapel, 8520 Main St, Frisco, TX, 75033, on Saturday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be held in April at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
