Charles Marion Norwood

Charles Marion Norwood of McKinney, Texas passed away on December 7, 2016 at the age of 86.  He was born on October 3, 1930 to Porter and Mary (Flippo) Norwood in Oklahoma and at a very young age moved to Red River County, Texas.  Charles married Daisy Kelly on May 5, 1995 in Plano, Texas.  He attended Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas.  Charles was a station manager for the Richardson, Texas Post Office. He was a District Governor for the Lion’s Club and he was inducted into the Lion’s Club Hall of Fame in 2013.  Charles was also a 32 degree Mason.  He was a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church where he sang in the church choir for several years. 

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Daisy Norwood of McKinney; son, Charlie Norwood and wife, Amy of Garland; grandchildren, Andrew and Thomas Norwood, Ryan and Dan Vanderberry; great-grandson, Colton Vanderberry; extended family members, David and Erika Jewell, Allison and Jan Jewell, Evan and Ethan Jewell, Noa Jewell; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Sonja Vanderberry.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.  The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
