Charles Lee Ivey

Charles Lee Ivey of Dallas, Texas passed away on May 3, 2018 at the age of 83.  He was born on March 28, 1935 to Talmage Clinton and Lora Lorene (McInturff) Ivey in Quemado, Texas.  Charles married Ada Maxine “Mickey” Carter on September 2, 1955 in Levelland, Texas.  He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas with a Bachelor’s Degree.  Charles then went on to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas where he earned his Master’s Degree.  He was a Senior Pastor at Old Alton in Denton, Texas, Hillside Baptist Church in Greely, Colorado, Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, First Baptist Church in Clinton, Oklahoma, and Prestonwood Baptist Church where he served on staff for Senior Adults.  Charles also served on the SBC executive committee.  He served on several boards and held leadership positions for High Plains Baptist Hospital, Clinton Regional Hospital, Oklahoma Baptist University, and the Colorado Baptist Convention.  In his retirement, he enjoyed ranching, spending time at the lake with his family, and an occasional round of golf.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mickey Ivey of Dallas, Texas; sons, Danny Ivey and wife, Sharon of Rowlett, Texas, David Ivey and wife, Becky of Burleson, Texas, Joe Ivey and wife, Angie of Carrollton, Texas; daughter, Jill Moore of Plano, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Jerrie Reding of Levelland, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmage Clinton and Lora Lorene Ivey.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2018 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas.
