Charles Emerson Duncan

Charles E. Duncan of McKinney, Texas passed away February 21, 2014 at the age of 94. He was born November 28, 1919 to Charlie Clarence and Rosa Faye (Bennett) Duncan in Lassater, Texas. Charles served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII.   He married Lydia Doris Wilbanks on January 3, 1939 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Charles was very active in the St. Elmo, Illinois Community as a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the board of trustees, St. Elmo School Board Member and a sixty-nine year member of the American Legion. Sports were a huge part of his life. He enjoyed pitching fast pitch softball and baseball. Charles also enjoyed refereeing basketball and football.  

Charles is survived by his wife, Doris Duncan of McKinney, Texas; children, Marsha Duncan of Melbourne, Florida, Michael Duncan and wife Ann of Wilbraham, MA, Lisa Jo Gunstenson and husband Mark of Melissa, Texas; grandchildren, Kelly Duncan Griffith and husband Josh of Wilbraham, MA, Kevin Duncan and wife Carla of Hamilton, New Jersey, Colleen Duncan of Wilbraham, MA, Casie Schneider and husband Travis of Frisco, Texas and Cody Gunstenson of Plano, Texas; great-granddaughter, Emma Lynn Griffith; and sister, Joy Ann Eastwood of Keller, Texas.  

He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Ayers.  

A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at First United Methodist Church, 315 N. Church Street, McKinney, Texas 75069. Interment will follow at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
