Charles Murdock Cooper, Jr.

Charles Murdock Cooper Jr., died June 21, 2005, in Dallas. Born 1916 in Topeka, Kansas, he moved to McKinney in 1926, attended schools there and also Wentworth Military Academy. He is pre-deceased by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Blocker Cooper, his parents, Maude Lugenbeel and Charles M. Cooper Sr. and brother, Kenneth Cooper. He is survived by his son, Charles Cooper III and wife, Susan Ellis Cooper and by grandchildren, Beth Cooper and Charles Cooper IV and his wife, Catalina Guerra Cooper and great-grandsons, Sam and Ben Cooper all of Dallas. A graduate of Austin College, he served in WW II and operated a business in McKinney, where he was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church, a Boy Scout leader and member of the Lions Club. He earned a graduate degree in hospital administration from Northwestern University and worked in and managed hospitals in Galveston and Houston before retiring to McKinney in 1980. Mr. Cooper enjoyed golf and was active in retirement as a board member of Heard Museum, Community Concert Series, and Pecan Grove Cemetery Association all in McKinney. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, June 24, 2005, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
