Charles “Charlie” Wendell Schwarz, age 82, of Allen, Texas passed away May 2, 2023, at Vitality Courts Assisted Living. He was born on August 7, 1940 to Willie Grego and Willie Aileen Schwarz in Sharp, Texas. He grew up amongst the cotton fields on their farm in rural Milam County. Charlie earned his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University in Agricultural Science. Upon his graduation in 1961, he went to work for the Texas Department of Agriculture. In 1963, Charlie was hired by Prudential in San Antonio, Texas. Including a move to Amarillo before settling in Dallas, he worked proudly for 35 years during his successful career in commercial and agricultural real estate investment & management. Charlie touched many lives while at Prudential. The longevity of his career remained one of his proudest accomplishments. Upon his retirement from Prudential, he worked as a Vice President at Safeco Land and Title Co then, had a fun, brief stint alongside his wife, Marge at the Sigler Elementary After-School Program.
Charlie was an outdoorsman. He loved boating on the lake with his family, camping, fishing, hunting. Charlie always had the prettiest flowers and gardens and the best lawn in the neighborhood. You could find him at the kitchen table helping out and watching Fox News or one of his Texas sport teams like the Rangers, Cowboys or Baylor basketball. He was the Best card player! His children and grandchildren played with him every chance they could- their objective was not necessarily to win, but to see who could beat Grandpa. He was a member of the Methodist Church and an active voter for the Republican party.
Charlie is survived by his daughters, Charla Schwarz-Hertel and Camie Brummett Mosely; sons, Chris Schwarz, Jay Brummett, and Chas Brummett; son-in-law, Don Orr; dearest friend, Polly Grubbs Schwarz Shmock; grandchildren, Keith Schwarz, Traci Borders-Wowk, Crystal Borders, Lydia, Benjamin and Andrew Orr, Lindsey and Bobby Hertel, Megan Martinez, Jessica Ward, Caitlinn and Michelle Mosley; great-grandchildren, Skyler, Riley and Asher Schwarz, Sophia and Evelyn Borders-Wowk, Parkin and Braxton Martinez, Emery Thompson, Serenity, Ryker and Gabby Brummett, Madison, Ryan and Caleb Ward.
His parents; brother, James Schwarz; sister, Beverly Hart; beloved wife and mother, Marjorie Herndon Brummett Schwarz; wife, Gwendolyn Taylor Schwarz; and daughter, Kimberly Schwarz Orr preceded him in death as did his dog, Bair.
The family would like to express their heartfelt love and gratitude to the caretakers and all the staff at Vitality Courts Texas Star for the abundant care, support, and love you have given to him over the last 11 months.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Resonate Life Church, 415 W Lucas Road, Lucas, Texas 75002 with Pastor Jeff Sparkman officiating.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Charlie will be laid to rest at private interment in Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
