Charles Buford Franklin of Garland, Texas, passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on April 24, 1934, in Sherman, Texas, to Otis Howard and Vonnie Jane (Anderson) Franklin.
Charles grew up in Sherman, Texas where he attended local schools. Throughout his life, he held various jobs, but he found his long-term career as an inspector with J.Y. Taylor Manufacturing. Known for his ability to fix anything, Charles was a man of many talents. He enjoyed fishing and cherished the time he spent talking with friends and family.
On January 28, 1955, Charles married Mary Sue Sims in Durant, Oklahoma, and together they shared a life full of love and companionship. Charles was a member of the Baptist faith.
Charles is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mary Sue Franklin of Garland, Texas; son, Charles Wayne Franklin and wife, Violeta of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Debbie Sue Warren and husband, Scotty of Murphy, Texas; grandchildren, David Wayne Franklin and wife, Emily, Daniel Allan Franklin and wife, Jacquelyn , Nathan Allan Franklin, Melanie Pearl Wolfe and husband, Wesley, Brenna Kaitlin Warren, and Brandi Beth Warren; great grandchildren, Samuel Levi Franklin, Milo Bennett Franklin, Preston Robert Franklin, Caleb Luke Franklin, Joshua Daniel Franklin, Elizabeth Suzanne Franklin, Charlie Matthias Franklin, Cameron Julius Franklin, Carmen Victoria Franklin, Elysia Noelle Wolfe, and Zoey Raya Wolfe; brother, John D. Franklin of Sherman, Texas; sister, Betty Coelho of Clovis, California; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Vonnie Franklin, and brothers, Otis Howard Franklin, Jr. and Dorsey Wayne Franklin.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The service will also be livestreamed at the following link: https://celebrationoflife.tv/blog/charles-buford-franklin. Interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas following the service.
The family will receive guests for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
