Cecilia Kehinde Oluokun

Cecilia Kehinde Oluokun was born in Lagos on 25th April 1938 to Papa and Mama Francis & AyinkeAkingbade of Oke Ona, Abeokuta.

She attended the Holy Child Catholic Girls College, Lagos and was a member of the Alakoro Sports Club in Lagos where she met her then fiancee, Mr Eyinade Ajibade Oluokun who left for UK to study Banking & Economics.

Mrs Cecilia Kehinde Oluokun later joined her fiancee in the UK and they got married on 1st April 1961 at Clapham Congregational Church, London. They had their first daughter end of that year. She later studied for her Pitmans Secretarial Studies at Kennington College, London and graduated with distinction and worked at the Mount Pleasant Royal Mail in London. She also had training in Catering and Confectionery.

After returning to Nigeria with her husband, she worked at Nido Gas Lagos before they both moved to Ibadan where she successfully ran her wholesale business in Catering and Confectionaries named IBUKUN-OLU CONFECTIONARIES. She was very good in the Art of baking and pastries and was a household name making Wedding and Birthday cakes.

Her marriage was blessed with four children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Cecilia Kehinde enjoyed a good social life, and this is evidenced in her participation with her friends in setting up the social club of Egba Young Rising Stars and of which she maintained very good relationship with a lot of her peers all natives of Abeokuta, in Ogun state. She also supported her husband Ajibade with the Oyo Caucus in his hometown of Oyo where they have a country home and worshiped at the First Baptist Church Isokun Oyo.

She was also a committed member of the Women's Missionary Union of the Bodija Estate Baptist church where she taught in the Children's Sunday School. She remained a staunch member of Bodija Estate Baptist Church until 2019 when she relocated to Texas after having survived her husband who passed away 15 years ago in March 2008.  She had a lot of hobbies which include Singing, Knitting and Cooking. In her younger days, she was a good Athlete and played Volleyball. Cecilia Kehinde was widely traveled within Nigeria, Ethiopia, Ghana, UAE - Dubai, Qatar, United Kingdom, Netherland, France, Czech Republic, Canada and USA.

Cecilia Kehinde Oluokun lived a fulfilled life. An embodiment of godly principles who loved the Lord with all her heart.  Cecilia died peacefully at home with her son by her side. 

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2023 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Following the service, a procession will make its way to Ridgeview Memorial Park for a committal service.

The family will receive family and friends during a visitation on Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
