Cecil Vane Eddy, a resident of Garland, Texas, passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born on July 30, 1952, to his loving parents, Cecil Vane Eddy and Lucy (Smithson) Eddy.
He graduated in 1971 from Baker High School, home of the Lions, in Columbus, Georgia, where he formed lifelong friendships and created cherished memories.
Cecil began his career as a carpenter at Southwest Medical School; however, his professional journey ultimately took him to the Mesquite Postal Service, where he dedicated 30 years of diligent service until his retirement. He was well-regarded for his strong work ethic and reliability, forging meaningful connections with both colleagues and the community.
On August 9, 1990, Cecil married the love of his life, Diane Lynn, in Mesquite, Texas. Their love story marked a beautiful chapter in his life, as he knew from the moment he first saw Diane that she was the one he would marry. Cecil took great pride in being a father and grandfather, valuing his family above all else. He loved cheering for the Dallas Cowboys, enjoying the outdoors, reading nonfiction books, playing darts, and sitting with his beloved cat Brinkley. Additionally, he held a deep pride in his Irish heritage, a connection that brought him immense joy throughout his life.
Cecil is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Lynn Eddy of Garland, Texas; his daughter, Kelly Taylor and husband Robert of McKinney, Texas; and his son, Jason Bouchard and wife Michelle of Glendale, Arizona. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Emma Bouchard, Peyton Taylor, Maddox Taylor, and Jovie Bouchard. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Barbara Tyler of Columbus, Georgia, and his nephew, David Allen Turvin, also of Columbus, Georgia.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents.
