Cathy Mistrot Pool, 78, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2026. Cathy was born on March 4, 1948, in Georgia, at the closest hospital to her childhood hometown of Marianna, Florida, to Wilfred and Sybil Mistrot. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Silvia Mistrot Money, Gerard Deheppe, Randy Mistrot, and Kenrick Mistrot.
In her early 20s, Cathy moved to New Orleans to live with her sister, Silvia. From there, the two sisters moved to Dallas, where Cathy earned a double major in Sociology and Psychology from East Texas State University. Dallas was also where she met and married her husband, Martin Pool, in 1980. Together, they built a big life in Dallas, owning and operating Overseas Mobile Aire Corp. while raising Martin’s three sons from a previous marriage.
Eventually, Cathy and Martin moved to Branson, Missouri, where Cathy ventured into the world of real estate. She became a licensed real estate broker and owned Miramar Real Estate LLC. When their time in Branson came to an end, they longed to live closer to the water and eventually made their way to Brownsville, Texas.
Cathy continued her real estate career in Brownsville and became a well-known name throughout the Harlingen area, specializing in commercial real estate while also operating a successful property management business. Being just 20 miles from South Padre Island allowed Cathy and Martin to enjoy one of her favorite things—the sun and the sea. Sundays were often spent soaking up the sunshine at the beach, while Friday nights meant crossing the border for dinner at Garcia’s in Matamoros.
Cathy had an infectious personality and was the perfect balance of fun and feisty, with an undeniable love for life. She never met a stranger and could make people feel welcome wherever she went. Even in her later years, Cathy remained active in her real estate business. The hustle and bustle of her work gave her a tremendous sense of purpose, and she loved staying busy and connected with the people around her.
Cathy will be deeply missed by her family and friends, whose lives were made brighter by her warmth, humor, independence, and zest for life.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Martin Pool; her stepsons, Martin Jr., Jock, and Alexander, along with their wives and children; and her nieces, Stephanie Theresa Money and Nicole Elizabeth Taquino, and Nicole’s husband.
