Catherine graduated from Diamond Hill High School in Fort Worth, along with 28 other students in 1942.  She enrolled in Nurse’s Training at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Hospital and finished 2 years of schooling before marrying a Naval Serviceman in 1945.  Catherine raised three children while her husband served as Commanding Officer on an ammunition carrier and his Military duties kept him at sea.  She volunteered as a Gray Lady at the Elementary School and served as Den Mother to her son’s Cub Scout troop in 1958-59.

Catherine retired and moved to Dallas and took a job in the copy room at McClendon Elementary where she worked for 9 years assisting teachers with class materials.  Later, she passed the certification text and became a Teacher’s Aide before retiring at 80.

Catherine loved to play Dominoes and Solitaire on the computer.  She’s an experienced seamstress who created most of her children’s wardrobes.  She loved gardening, pulling weeds and putting out birdseed for the baby birds that flock to their yard year round.

Catherine lived in her three-bedroom country home on half an acre for twenty-three years before moving to Garnet Hill.  The last nine years she shared her home with her sister, Louise, who is also a resident.
