IN LOVING MEMORY

Catherine Chanel Clem Johnson

Oct 09 1985 - Aug 09 2023

I AM BORN

Catherine Chanel Clem Johnson, affectionately known as “Catty or “Cat”, was born on October 9, 1985 in East Brunswick, New Jersey to William Clem and Shelia Clem along with one sibling, Nina Clem. At the age of four, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, which she adopted as her home. Her roots were also tied to Louisiana, where she frequently visited family for holidays and special occasions.

I AM SAVED

Catty acknowledged and accepted the Lord at a young age and grew in her relationship with Christ as she matured. Throughout her life she prioritized and sought the Lord’s will for her life. When she moved to Texas, Catherine immediately joined One Community Church as a founding member. She served the church and truly modeled an inclusive lifestyle where no one walks alone and always put others before herself. During her time at One she served in various capacities but being a Life Group leader with her husband Lance, was one of her greatest joys.

I AM EDUCATED

Catherine was a scholar. She excelled in all academic endeavors and was a part of several elite organizations. After high school, Cat attended Georgia State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Finance in May 2008. During Cat’s undergraduate studies, she joined the illustrious women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She continued her educational pursuit by graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2013. She was proud of this milestone and went on to pursue a career in finance.

I AM DEVOTED

Some things are just meant to be and that is the story of Catherine and Lance’s love. Catherine and Lance initially met as children while she was visiting family in Louisiana. In 2008, they started dating and quickly fell in love. Lance proposed to Catherine in July 2009. They were married February 20, 2010 in New Orleans, Louisiana. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born; Malia Chanel and Aubrey Joy. Catty adored being a wife and mother. She loved spending time with Lance and the girls, prioritizing family vacations, and making memories. Cat and Lance also devoted their time to giving back to their community. With Cat’s financial acumen, Lance’s passion for coaching, and their heart for youth, they founded Prodigy — an AAU Basketball Team. The Prodigy girls were an extension of the family; Cat and Lance mentored them both on and off the court.

I AM HEALED

On Wednesday afternoon, August 9, 2023 at 1:13pm, surrounded by her loving family, God dispatched His Heavenly Angels to escort his faithful servant, Catherine Clem Johnson from labor to reward.

I AM LOVED

Catherine had an impact on so many people and was a true joy and pleasure to be around. She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a loving and devoted husband, Lance; two daughters, Malia and Aubrey; father, William Clem (Elaine); mother, Shelia Clem; sister, Nina Clem; grandmother, Catherine Butler, and host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Eloise Taylor Clem; and grandfathers, William W. Clem Jr. and Rufus Butler.
