IN LOVING MEMORY

Carter Evans

Mar 28 1954 - Dec 22 2022

Carter Evans, age 68, of Little Elm in the Dallas, Texas metroplex, transitioned into eternity on Thursday, December 22, 2022.

He was born into humble beginnings in Forsyth, Georgia, on March 28, 1954, full of ambition, drive and big dreams to Lendell (Rogers) and Robert William Evans. He began high school at Hubbard High, but after integration, he graduated from Mary Persons High School.  There he found his calling for helping others along with his love for music as a skilled, 1st chair trumpet player in the band.

Carter proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force receiving honors for Good Conduct, Combat Readiness and National Defense Service.  He married the love of his life, Mary Loretta Veal, while stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas, on April 19, 1975. He then pioneered the field of aviation as an Air Traffic Controller, one of very few African-Americans, leading and mentoring new talent for 34 years before retiring.  An entrepreneur at heart, he launched and grew C. Evans Product Distribution Company and secured coveted contracts for the Super Conductor Super Collider.

Carter loved God, followed Christ, and led a devoted prayer life.  Carter’s greatest joy was in being the dad of all dads to his three children and the number one fan of his grandchildren, videotaping and taking pictures of every moment. He never met a stranger and was known as the protector and father figure to everyone in the neighborhood.  He loved being an uncle, recreational landscaping, luxury cars & homes, creating epic R&B music playlists, collecting model airplanes, interior design, biking, and sharing “the secret handshake” with his sons, grandsons and nephews.  But nothing compared to how much he loved spending his life with the love of his life, Loretta, over the past 47 years.

Carter is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Loretta Evans; his children, Eric Watson of Barnesville, Georgia, Marshawn Daniels and her husband, Jack, of Atlanta, Georgia, and Corey Evans and his wife, Tiffany, of Little Elm, Texas; his grandchildren, Kendall Head, Shunteria Head, Erieyuna Watson, Caige Daniels, Caiya Daniels, Calleigh Daniels, Gavin Evans, and Cason Evans; his great-grandson, Kyler Head; his brother, William “Tim” Evans and his wife, Charlotte; his nieces, Nepha Evans and Ashley Pugh; and his nephews, Ronga Banks, Sherrill Banks, Sean Darensbourg, Dimitri Albert, Glenn McClung, Derek Darensbourg, Domenic Albert and Shomari Pugh; and his cousin Mary Parker.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lendell Evans.
