Carrol Gene Thornton of McKinney, Texas passed away on April 16, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born on December 25, 1938 to Chester and Myrtle (Carter) Thornton in Grimes, Oklahoma. Carrol grew up in Oklahoma and was a 1957 graduate of Reydon High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. On July 29, 1967, he married Jeanette Laverne Hansford in Dallas, Texas. Carrol worked at McDermott Oil as an electrical engineer for over 17 years. He also worked at Mechanical Equipment Corporation (MECO) until his retirement in 2004. Carrol loved fishing, crabbing, gardening, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of Stonebridge United Methodist Church in McKinney, Texas.
Carrol is survived by his wife, Jeanette Thornton of McKinney, Texas; children, Pamela Thornton of Plano, Texas and Daniel Thornton and wife, Addie of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Katie and Sydney Thornton; sister, Gwen Wiewel and husband, Joe of Arvada, Colorado; nieces, Tammy Kaiser and Brenda Carpenter; and numerous other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Myrtle Thornton.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects or to sign the register book.
