Carolyn Sue McClain, age 69, of Gunter, Texas passed away on June 18, 2024, in McKinney, Texas. She was born November 12, 1954, to Samuel and Ethel (Brown) Smith in Pilot Point, Texas. Carolyn married Marvin Farrell McClain on February 8, 1971, in Gainesville, Texas. She enjoyed attending Monday morning Bible study and participating in the Thursday trivia group. Carolyn loved everything about being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and dog mom.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Steven McClain and wife, Donna of Gunter, Texas, and Martin McClain of Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Dalton McClain, Dakota Norton and wife, Amethyst, and Robert Nix; great-grandchildren, Madison Norton, Ryan Coventry, and Daisy Norton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Farrell McClain; son, Alan McClain; grandchildren, Ashley McClain and Morgan Mahurin; brothers and sisters, Tommy Smith, Elsie Nugent, Ina Cundiff, Floyd Smith, Ed Smith, Terry Smith, and Lynda Simpson; and parents, Samuel and Ethel Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, 101 West Pecan Street, Gunter, Texas, 75058.
